ICivics was founded by retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor in 2009 with the goal of transforming civic education through innovative, engaging games and resources.  Its free materials are grouped by grades, K-5, 6 – 8, and 9 – 12.

iCivics sponsors CivxNow, the nation’s largest cross-partisan coalition that prioritizes civic education to sustain and strengthen constitutional democracy in the United States. It has 29 state affiliates committed to advancing meaningful and bipartisan civic learning policy and practice improvements. Affiliates are cross-partisan groups that may include students, classroom teachers, district-level coordinators, university scholars, policy-makers, and community members from across the state.  CivxNow also reviews state-level policies related to civic education.
